I think it’s pretty safe to say that Grand Rapids has some of the best restaurants in the state of Michigan. Even if you’re just visiting for vacation, it’s almost guaranteed that you’ll find a restaurant that you’ll love so much… you’ll have to come back for it again and again. Grand Rapids also has a large variety of restaurants, so if you’re not in the mood for sushi from Maru, or tacos from Taqueria San Jose, or duck nachos from Brewery Vivant , there are many other diverse options that are also quite tasty, or so I’ve heard.
I’ve never been too keen on trying adventurous food so my taste buds are, I guess you could say, quite basic. I love pizza, burgers, bacon, fries etc. etc. etc. I bet you could probably guess which restaurant is my favorite in Grand Rapids, or guess close. I would have to say my favorite restaurant is HopCat.
I wasn’t allowed to eat at HopCat until I was 21 without a legal guardian, since it’s technically a brewery, so being able to experience the food and beer when I finally became of age was great. I was able to try their famous burgers and of course their, “crack fries” and fell in love with them because, well, they are two of my favorite foods.
Not only did the food and drinks impress me, but the atmosphere did as well. It’s not too big, and the walls are covered with all kinds of objects and pictures, which makes the little brewery quite interesting to look at from the inside. I love the feel of places that aren’t quite ordinary, and if it’s a brewery, that’s just a bonus.
Depending on what you’re in the mood for, it’s more than likely you will be able to find a place to go to satisfy your craving within Grand Rapids. Hopefully you’re more willing to branch out and try new things, because this city has a lot to offer when it comes to food!
